The Guide | Heart Health
With it being February, we thought we'd talk to you about your heart health. The plus size community is often seen as unhealthy, but my doctor was recently surprised at how low my blood pressure was. Why? Because I walk. Everyday. You don't need to be running 5ks or climbing the Stairmaster at the gym to improve your heart health. Walking is one of the simplest ways to get active. The American Heart Association says that just 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week is enough to help lower your risk of heart disease. How hard could it be to find 30 minutes in your day? Take your dog for a walk in the morning, walk with your kids to school, take an evening walk with your spouse and talk about your day. Honestly, my morning walks with my best friend and furry companion Ro is my favorite time of the day. Not only is it good for my physical health, it's good for my mental health. It's my time. I think, I reflect, I dream. I know your heart is amazing. It's filled with love and compassion. So take care of it and try adding a walking routine to your day!
